My wife visited ‘The Big Easy” a few weekends ago and brought these sweets back. They’re good stuff. Admittedly, this image is nothing special, but it did give me a chance to practice my lighting. This was lit from above with an ordinary reading lamp and from camera right with an SB600 triggered remotely from my camera. TIA for your comments.

I got this from a friend of mine who went to Costa Rica for vacation. I thought it was a good subject to focus my macro lens on. I’m also coming up with some other macro ideas as I put the lens through its paces. I also used my AB to throw off the shadow to the left; an opportunity to work on my lighting. TIA for your comments.

My favorite book. Always a good read, and the movie is just as good. Both my wife and I watch it whenever its one, even if we come in in the middle. TIA for your comments.

I decided to do what I think has become my favorite type of setting; the black background. This time I decided to focus a lot more on how light fell on the subject. The light source in this case was a table lamp to the left of the camera. Next time I need to use some kind of diffuser so that I could possibly reduce the obvious reflections. I like how it turned out though. TIA for your comments.

I am constantly amazed at what understanding light can do for one’s photography.  This image has no post-processing, other than converting from RAW to JPEG. I opened up elements and was about to poke around to see what I could do with this image, but then I realized I already had what I wanted. TIA for your comments.

I’m still enjoying my 50mm, so please bear with me as I’ll probably be using it a lot as I continue my project. Tonight I was going for a praying hands theme. I enlisted my 4-year-old daughter and she allowed me pretty much one shot  before she left the room declaring “I don’t want any more pictures”. Sigh ……working with divas ain’t easy. TIA for your comments.

Today was another long day. I was barely able to come up with an idea for an image and execute it in time. I’m thinking this one is probably cropped a little too close, although I do like the overall outcome. TIA for your comments.

I stayed inside again today. We had our first of several triple digit days today so I was not inclined to go out into the heat. This project is already stretching me and I’m only 39 days in. It forces me to be creative in my photography, and to try to make interesting images. TIA for your comments.

Todays’ image is the result of experimentation gone crazy. This is no way near what I intended. These are 3 filters. What I wanted to do, was to highlight the different colors in the filters. What I ended up with was  a cross between the olympic logo and the solar system….:) I’m thinking I should have started with a different background. Any ideas? TIA for your comments.

I’m enjoying doing this project. I’m actually learning to stage my images. This one was inspired by another photo blogger I met since I started this project. You can see her image here. The reflection is a bit blurry so I need to figure out how to fix that. All in all though, I like how it turned out. TIA for your comments.
