We went into DC today to get some business done. I took my camera along but did not really have the time to set up shots. It was a beautiful day though, the sun was out in all it;

DP61: Hibachi

My co-workers and I had lunch at a Japanese Steakhouse today and I took my camera along. I liked all three images so I poked around in elements until I figured out how to combine them. I like how this turned out. TIA  for your comments.

I decided to go for texture and color tonight. I like the deep red in this image, the contrast between the leather and the metal, along with the contrasting patterns. TIA for your comments.

I missed yesterday’s shot (breaking my 57 day streak in the process). We had a storm out here and we were without power for 8 hours, so I had no way to upload. I was a bit disappointed at not being able do yesterday’s picture, but these things happen. Today I tried for a white background. Basically this image is severely blown out, but, oddly enough I actually like how it came out. I would have preferred some more vibrance on the sole of the shoe, but I am satisfied for the moment. Now I just have to figure out how to get my daughter’s shoes back into her room without her knowing I used them. TIA for your comments.

If there is one thing I can say about this project, I am definitely discovering new scenes to shoot. I have no idea what this used to be,but it is on some sort of big compound. I took quite of a few shots at this location and I like most of them. I have some others to work on which I will post on flickr. What I like about this image apart from the color contrast,  are all the lines; the smokestack, the building, the windows. Those lines are also  in opposition the ’roundish’ trees. What I do not like very much, however, is the color of the sky. When I took the shot, it was plain, and featureless, so I tried to Photoshop some color into it.  My PS skills are very basic, though, so I don’t think I was very successful, in that I am not very satisfied with the ‘realness’ of the color. TIA for  your comments.

I decided to do what I think has become my favorite type of setting; the black background. This time I decided to focus a lot more on how light fell on the subject. The light source in this case was a table lamp to the left of the camera. Next time I need to use some kind of diffuser so that I could possibly reduce the obvious reflections. I like how it turned out though. TIA for your comments.

“Vote for me and I will set you free”. I just need to be free of all these campaign signs. It’s election time again and campaigns are in full swing. Everywhere your turn there are large signs. If you stand still for too long, they may drape one around your neck.  Thing is, it’s all more of the same dull rhetoric; no new ideas, no imagination, no color. TIA for your comments.

I actually went back to a previous location today to photograph this structure I saw in the backyard of what has to be an abandoned home. What I find interesting here is the contrast between the obviously deserted look of the structure with the lush greenery that is quietly overtaking it. TIA for your comments.
